Mongols with their Elite Mangudais and siege are pretty good in the imperial age. ![]() Attack early in the feudal/castle age and try to get a decisive advantage resource-wise or population-wise. ![]() ![]() Think of it like two matches of rock paper and scissors, archers beat infantry, infantry beats cavalry and cavalry beats archers, now there are also anti-archer units that also beat archers but are bad against much else (skirmishers), anti cavalry units that are good against cavalry but mediocre against other stuff (camels), now the only point where this is weird is the infantry, the main infantry "swordsmen" actually is the counter in this case while the anticavalry-spearmen is the unit in this diagram, so it goes: Archers>Spears>cavalry while also: Skirms>Archers & Swords>Spears and Camels>KnightsĪlso later on there are additional units that are here and there, cavalry archers for example can counter infantry with their speed but take bonus damage from spears and camels (due to being cavalry) and from skirmishers (being an archer hurts here) another example would be hand cannonneers that counter any infantry but are slow shooting and thus countered by anything fast that can disrupt their formation (also i think skirmishers have additional damage against them, not sure on that though)Īnother thing to consider is: if you can counter your enemies units with less ressources spend, i.e. First thing you can try doing is stopping the game from going to the imperial age.
